Why Choose Vegan Toothpaste

Everything I buy is vegan including my toothpaste. Indeed, it can take a lot of time to make sure everything you buy is sustainable and vegan so I decided to test out a new product.

Buying toothpaste has been one of the biggest struggles when it comes to living a more ethical life. When I first went vegan I found it easy enough to find vegan options. However, when I also started cutting down on plastic it became really difficult.

Most toothpaste brands use plastic tubes for their product. Whilst I never questioned this at first as it was simply the norm but eventually I noticed the waste. Constantly using plastic has an environmental cost. I wanted to cut down on this. Also, toothbrushes are usually plastic. I learnt an uncomfortable fact that all the plastic toothbrushes ever made still exist since it takes them so long to break down the plastic. So, even the ones you threw away in the past still exist somewhere.

This was the first moment I knew I had to make a change because plastic is avoidable and causing so much damage to the planet.

By choosing a more sustainable option you are able to lower your plastic consumption.

Why Waken?

They are a relatively new business starting in 2019. With a focus on sustainability this is a great brand to support.

All Waken products are vegan and not tested on animals. And to make them more sustainable, the tubes are made from 100% aluminium and are recyclable. Also, using the toothpaste with a squeezer key allows you to get out all the product. These are sold on the website and are a game changer for other products too. Using every part of the product provided saves you money and reduces waste.

Overall Review

I really love this toothpaste, it tasted great and I like the sustainability aspect. Sometimes eco-friendly products cost more. However, I found this really cost effective and a similar price to most other brands. What’s great is being able to have both a vegan and ethical option. So often you have to choose and here you don’t. I would recommend this brand to anyone and hope to try more of their products in the future.

Supporting small businesses is important as is supporting vegan ones. I love that I can support a sustainable and cruelty free brand here. As we all know the planet needs protecting and one way we can do this is through the products we buy.

Why not try something new with this vegan option. It’s a great option for the whole family. You will not regret trying this out.
